What is meditation?
Meditation is a practice or a process where you consciously focus on your soul or some external objects to achieve calmness and relaxation. It is a mental exercise where you first relax then focus and finally awareness. Various methods we use for meditation like focusing on the candle for better concentration or just closing eyes and focusing on breathing to attend mindfulness.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a state which can be achieved by a person by focusing on present moments, calmly accepting one’s thoughts and feelings without judging. Mindfulness is a quality to understand where we are, what we are doing, and not overreacting to the situation or what’s happening around us. This significant term is taken from Buddhist tradition where mindfulness is focused on Zen Buddhism, vipassana. (I am adding the natural sound of rain for meditation below)

Why do we need to practice meditation?
1. Better and longer health-As most of the diseases due to anxiety and stress, meditation helps to keep your stress level low and your blood pressure as well.
2. Meditation makes you happy and peaceful.
3. The calmness of the mind makes more harmonious relations.
4. Increased level of concentration helps you to be more productive and increase your performance.
5. It helps to get away from bad habits like smoking, drinking, etc.
6. It is a step towards enlightenment.
How to meditate?
After knowing all about meditation and its benefits, let’s learn about its process. Here, I am going to explain a simple and easy meditation process with the help of music which is inspired by Zen Buddhism. This is a basic method where you focus on your breathing. Now, the question is Why are we focusing on breathing? The answer is to understand mindfulness, we need to be live present and not in thoughts. Our breath is the only thing that reminds us that we are alive and living right at this moment. So, let’s get started–
Find any quiet space at your home. You can also go and sit in the park near to your house which has less distraction and noise.
Sit comfortably. You can sit on a chair and can take back support if needed. Relax your body little and remove strain from your shoulders. Now breathe, breathing should be natural. As beginner thoughts will come in your mind, let them. However, you can again focus on breathing to get back. Slowly with practice, you will be stepping ahead towards awareness and mindfulness.
Extras can be added
Some people like to count their breathing to remain focused but I will suggest not to do so. However, you can use meditation music. What I will recommend is natural sounds like rain, water drops, or birds chirping. Here I am providing the sound of rain and birds to keep our mind calm and relax. It will surely help you.
In conclusion, I would like to say that there are many methods and ways to practice meditation. Some of us like keeping our eyes open and concentrating while others use guided meditation and visualization techniques. It differs from people to people and place to place. But what is most important is, you practice this amazing thing daily. This is the easiest way which I found years ago and certainly, it will help you.
